Ambulance Officer

The Ambulance Officer is the third level for all SAAS volunteers. Ambulance Officers can provide Intermediate Life Support utilising a wide range of Clinical Practice Protocols which including in some case advanced skills and medications. This level of care is optimal for the wellbeing of many rural communities. We would encourage all Ambulance Responders after a period of consolidation to train and achieve this level of care. Ambulance Officers may supervise Ambulance Assists & Ambulance Responders or work with other Ambulance Officers & Paramedics (depending on their stations location and workplace needs).

The Ambulance Officer completes the Certificate IV in Health Care.

Many Ambulance Officers have utilised their Certificate IV in Health Care to gain entry and RPL into other vocational and tertiary courses such as Aged Care, Nursing (EN & RN), Allied Health and Paramedics.
